Veteran Offensive Line set to fuel High Octane Cats

We continue our Countdown to Kick Off as the calendar hits 89 Days until the Aug 27th Opener at Northwestern State.

Today we focus on one of the major reasons the LCU Wildcats will look to lead the way in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Normally finding replacements is just a part of football from season to season. It’s especially critical along the offensive and defensive fronts. This front line returns everyone. Everyone.

This year is one of great expectations for OL Coach Cory York. In speaking with Coach York, it’s easy to sense the excitement surrounding this unit. “Returning all 5 starters, plus some young guys ready to step up, we’re set for a big year up front.” York said.

With several Seniors back to pave the way, this offense looks poised to repeat as the only team in the Sooner Athletic Conference to eclipse the 400-point mark for the season. The high scoring Wildcats offense led the SAC with 401 points and did so behind the unit that will once again lead the way for the LCU Skill guys.

Gavin Lilley and Javonte Roberts return fresh off of 1st team All Sooner Athletic Conference years to anchor the right side of the line. The physicality of these two will help control the clock, tempo, and line of scrimmage for this year’s LCU offense. Joining Lilley and Roberts is 2nd team All-Conference lineman Senior JD Winans along with Senior Christian Arnett and returning Sophomore Christian Gautreau.

Gautreau’s impact as a freshman is one that Coach York hopes doesn’t have to repeat itself. “Hopefully, we can give the younger guys a chance to develop. There will be a lot of those guys called on to be lead the future of the Wildcats”, York added, “but now they get to grow and learn behind a very talented group.”

Depth is going to be vital. Lineman that Coach York says he expects to also have great seasons are Kenneson Jefferson and Ted Jamison. “It’s nice to work on technique and scheme rather than having to teach and implement,” York told us, ” This veteran leadership and depth put this unit as one of the best in the Conference and in the Nation.”

This group helped lead the 2025 Wildcats to gain nearly 4500 yards of total offense. They will have to continue to grow as a unit and maintain their aggressiveness to help the Cats make another run at a SAC Title. Coach York told us that this team is not satisfied with sharing the Conference Championship as they have two of the last three years. They want the outright Title and the league’s automatic bid to NAIA playoffs and make a run at the Red Banner.

It’s no secret that winning the league outright is the only realistic way to make the playoffs. With the SAC’s past performance in the playoffs, getting an at large bid is not a viable option for this conference. This year has a chance to be different for the Cats. The group from Pineville has an opportunity to make 2026 a special year. It starts up front. It starts with a veteran group that works as one and not just as individuals. That’s the key.

Does this LCU team have what it takes to dominate up front and have the season that they all think they can? Do they have what it takes to win the outright title from perennial powers in Texas Wesleyan and OUAZ? Can they compete out of conference with National powers like Grand View (back-to-back National Champions) and Florida’s Keiser University (four straight title appearances)?

We are 89 days away from getting things started on a Thursday night in Natchitoches. We are 89 days away from starting to answer some of these questions. One thing is certain and one thing is guaranteed; this offensive line will put in the work. They will thrive off of their veteran leadership and experience. They will thrive off of the fire that comes from Offensive Line Coach Cory York. This group will bring their lunch pail daily. They will come to work.

Stay tuned for our daily dive into the 2026 LCU Wildcats season. We will continue our overviews of the team before making a deep dive into the individual positions. We will look back at some key highlights from last season, a week by week look at the 2026 season and get you ready for the Fall.

Join us tomorrow as we look at the cats Defensive Line.
