Tioga Outlasts ASH in 10-8 Win

On a cool and windy evening at Ward 10 Wednesday night, fans were witness to a very evenly matched battle of Select Div 1 contenders. Alexandria would jump out to a first inning 4 run frame to set the tone. It was a epic battle of two evenly matched teams that saw solid starting pitching, great defensive plays, sensational bullpen work and a Home Run from each squad.

Alexandria would get to Tioga starter Christina Lambert in the 4th as she would fail to record an out and give way to Quebedeaux’s Player of the Game KK Roberts. Roberts would come in and pitch 4 strong innings in relief, striking out 8 and allowing just 1 run on 2 hits.

It was a game that at times was a little sloppy defensively but both sides tightened up when necessary. According to Tioga Coach Brad Woodard, “It’s gonna take our Basketball girls some time to get into Softball mode”

The big blow for the Indians came when Coach Woodard called on Freshman Falyn Harrison to pinch hit in the 6th. Harrison would be brought in with a 1-0 count that would test her nerves on way to an overwhelming experience that would earn her the Cool Play of the Game. It was a two strike offering that Harrison would take over the Centerfield wall to tie the game at 8. Take a look and listen below at some of the post-game thoughts.
