Alright, Tiger fans, it’s time to talk shop. LSU Baseball is making waves again, and this time it’s through the transfer portal. Coach Jay Johnson and the crew didn’t just shop for talent—they went for the cream of the crop. This year’s additions are turning heads and have LSU locked and loaded for another run at greatness.

Let’s break down the new faces joining the squad and why they’re about to make a big impact on the diamond.

The New Dudes:

Daniel Dickinson (Infielder, Utah Valley)

This guy’s got star written all over him. Dickinson played 59 games last year, rocking a .367 average with 18 homers and a crazy 32 stolen bases. Yeah, he’s fast and powerful—basically a nightmare for pitchers. Keep an eye on him; he’s already getting buzz as a potential first-round MLB pick.

Anthony Eyanson (Right-Handed Pitcher, UC San Diego)

If you love watching pitchers freeze batters, Eyanson’s your guy. He went 6-2 last season with a filthy 3.07 ERA. The kid’s got control, command, and confidence on the mound. Exactly what the Tigers need to lock down games.

Jacob Mayers (Right-Handed Pitcher, Nicholls State)

Another arm to bolster the rotation. Mayers racked up 106 Ks in just over 70 innings last year. His strikeout stuff is legit, and he’s not afraid to attack hitters.

Deven Sheerin (Right-Handed Pitcher, Mount St. Mary’s)

You want heat? Sheerin’s got it—up to 98 mph. He piled up 109 strikeouts last season and is ready to bring the power to LSU’s bullpen.

Chris Stanfield (Outfielder, Auburn)

Stanfield’s not just a guy who shows up—he’s the guy who makes plays. Solid at the plate with a .276 average, he’s also got the wheels and defense to cover serious ground in the outfield. A great addition to LSU’s lineup.

Eddie Yamin IV (Infielder/Catcher, Dayton)

Talk about versatility. Yamin can do it all—hit for average (.342), knock it out of the park (13 HRs), and drive in runs (54 RBIs). Plus, he’s flexible enough to move around the field, which gives the Tigers some lineup options.

Dalton Beck (Outfielder/Left-Handed Pitcher, Incarnate Word)

Beck’s a two-way stud. He hit .377 with 15 bombs and also brings a live arm to the mound. The Southland Conference named him Newcomer of the Year, and now he’s ready to take it up a notch in Baton Rouge.

Luke Hayden (Right-Handed Pitcher, Indiana State)

Hayden’s been a reliable starter, putting up solid numbers with a 3.81 ERA and 91 Ks last year. He’s got the durability and experience to handle SEC lineups.

Zac Cowan (Right-Handed Pitcher, Wofford)

This dude dominated at Wofford, going 10-2 with a 3.35 ERA. He’s not just a strikeout machine—he’s a competitor who brings it every game.

Why This Group Matters

LSU isn’t just reloading—they’re supercharging. Last year, the pitching depth got stretched thin at times, so grabbing arms like Eyanson, Sheerin, and Cowan is a game-changer. These guys aren’t projects; they’re ready to go. Pair that with big bats like Dickinson, Yamin, and Beck, and you’ve got a lineup that’s both deep and dangerous.

Coach Jay Johnson is playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers. He didn’t just grab talented players; he got guys who fit LSU’s style—aggressive, versatile, and hungry to win.

What It Means for 2025

The Tigers are aiming for another trip to Omaha, no doubt about it. With the returning core and these portal studs, LSU is set to be one of the most balanced teams in the country. The pitching staff should rack up Ks, the lineup will keep pitchers sweating, and the defense looks solid.

It’s going to be a show, Tiger fans. These transfers are here to make noise, and if everything clicks, this team could be something special. Buckle up—it’s going to be a fun ride.

Key Departures Through the Transfer Portal:

  • Cam Johnson (Left-Handed Pitcher): A top recruit with a blazing fastball, Johnson showed potential in his limited appearances. His departure leaves a gap in our pitching depth.
  • Paxton Kling (Outfielder): Kling had a solid freshman year but saw a dip in performance last season. His exit opens up opportunities for our new outfield talent.
  • Brady Neal (Catcher): Neal’s versatility behind the plate and his .276 batting average with nine homers will be missed. His transfer is a significant loss for our catching depth.
  • Javen Coleman (Left-Handed Pitcher): After battling injuries, Coleman made a commendable return last season. His experience and left-handed arm will be missed in our bullpen.
