Early season games are meant for developing and getting in shape for a long season. 8th Grader Logan Maricle is having none of that. Maricle tossed a 5 inning No Hitter against Lake Arthur tonight striking out 9 and walking just 4.
The Lefty’s fastball sits at around 81-82 mph, but it’s his ability to move the ball to different locations, combined with a great change up and a curve that baffles batters. He fields his position well, also. Maricle was able to grab a line drive that hit him, gather himself and get the out at first. Defensively, he was helped by a double play late in the game to erase a base runner.
Maricle is one of 3 8th graders to crack the starting lineup for GCS Coach Josh Brown. It was another one of them in Brady McDaniel that hit a two run double to extend the Warrior lead to 10-0 and provide a walk off Mercy Rule win in the 5th.
Senior Seth Cook continues to swing a hot bat as the season opens with another 3 RBI night.
This is the second straight 10 run rule win for the Warriors who will be back in action for two games on Saturday. They play Northwest at 12:30 and Simpson at 2:45

For Maricle’s performance on the hill, Logan was named our Quebedeaux’s Player of the Game.
