3s rained in the early moments of this afternoon’s contest between LSUA and Texas A&M Texarkana as both teams hit three 3s for their first 3 baskets. Things settled in and the Generals used a dominant inside game coupled with 11 from beyond the arc to win 87-73 over the Eagles of TAMU on Saturday. JT Curry led all scorers on an 11-16 shooting day from the field. JT would add two free throws to finish with 24. Curry was dominant inside grabbing 8 rebounds. This afternoon’s performance was a much-needed finale that saw emotional wins over LCU and LSUS this week to cap off a run of 5 games in 8 days. With the win, it pushes the LSUA win streak to 8 games. The Generals have been red hot after their lopsided loss to Texas College back in December.

When speaking to Coach Jackson at halftime of the Women’s game he made a point stress his team’s mindset. “We don’t play on high emotion, and we don’t play on low emotion, they never last. We play on levelheaded emotion and that keeps you consistent”, Coach Jackson said.

Four other Generals finished in double figures as JD Allen chipped in 15, Jason Perry and EJ McQuillan each dropped 12 a piece. Kashie Natt finished one rebound shy of a double-double with an 11/9 night for the RRAC leading Generals. This spoiled a great night from Eagles’ Jeff Norment as he led TAMU with 21 points. In total five Eagles finished in double figures, but it was too much LSUA from start to finish.

With their 8th consecutive win, the Generals move to 13-5 overall and 11-2 in RRAC play. Next up for LSUA is a long trip to Hobbs, NM and a visit to University of the Southwest on Feb 1st.

****Inside the numbers: 2nd Chance Points ~ LSUA 18 – TAMU 3, Points in the Paint ~ LSUA 34 TAMU 22, Rebounds ~ LSUA 42 TAMU 31
