Forever LSU

The outcome of Sunday nights game was not desired nor expected but it will not change the fact that LSU fans Live Purple and Bleed Gold and will always be LSU forever!

John Sewell and his wife, Carla, moved to Orlando five years ago and don’t get the opportunity to visit Tiger Stadium as often as they did when they lived in Pineville, La. But their love for the Tigers didn’t wane with the miles between Death Valley and DisneyWorld. That’s because the second verse of the Alma mater played prior to and after every game by the LSU band “fond memories that waken in our hearts a tender glow” is real in these faithful tigers.

The 45-year-old memory was just as vibrant Sunday night in Orlando as it was as a freshman band member in 1979. The year the Tigers hosted the number one ranked USC Trojans who were led by running back Charles White, the 1979 Heisman winner, and head coach John Robinson. Yes the same John Robinson who was hired by former LSU coach Ed Orgeron as a defensive analyst.

The LSU faithful are famous for showing up, not only in Baton Rouge, but on the road in support of the Tigers. Today, it’s not just for football but for all the sports. This holiday weekend thousands of fans painted Vegas in purple and gold. The paint job was also vibrant in the Magic and Animal Kingdoms, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. There were shouts of “GEAUX TIGERS” in Winter Garden, Florida and at Gator’s Dockside as fans waited for Sunday game day. For LSU graduate and Tiger Band alumnus John Sewell, this past Sunday night (2024) may just as well have be been a 1979 back to the future moment.

The fond memories that waken in LSU hearts a tender glow lyric of the Alma Mater should maybe be changed to a burning flame! Even though the Tigers lost Sunday the passion from being an LSU fan makes them happy for the love they have learned to know. And win or lose the spirit that lives in the LSU faithful with always keep them, Forever LSU.
