Eagles lose Season Opener 2-1 at the Nest

Cooper Scott took a tough No Decision vs North DeSoto Tuesday night in the Eagles’ 2024 Season Opener. Scott went 4 solid innings striking out 5 while allowing only 1 Earned Run on the evening. Scott also had a base hit in three trips to the plate.

It was a night that saw HSM go down on strikes 10 times, 7 of them on called third strikes.

Speaking with Coach Jordan Marks regarding this, “We have been swinging the bat well in scrimmages and of late and that that many called third strikes was not a reflection of how the Eagles have been approaching their at bats.”

“We will get it worked out beginning with practice today”, said Marks.

Watching the 446sports.com broadcast of the Eagles’ game saw the Eagles strike first and looked to have something going early. Leadoff hitter Case Butterfield started the game with a hard shot just past the 3rd baseman for a solid single to Left. Butterfield would later score on a Wild Pitch in the bottom of the First to stake HSM to the early 1-0 lead.

But that is all the Eagles would get. North Desoto was able to hold on to the 2-1 win and start the Eagles season out at 0-1.

The Eagles get the opportunity to get back on the diamond this weekend with a trip to Lake Charles and a Friday/Saturday 3 game set at St Louis Catholic. This should be a great series as the Saints of STL Catholic were Select Division 2 Semi Finalists a year ago.

Join us each Sunday beginning this Sunday at Buffalo Wild Wings at 7 pm as we talk HSM Baseball and Softball with Coach Marks and Coach Scully.
